The Young At Heart Have Found Their Ultimate Destination At This Treehouse In Nashville
Being an adult is not as easy as we were lead to believe. Once a child turns 18 and is no longer innocent like comes quickly.
There’s the first step of leaving home, then going to college, getting a job, paying rent, and paying bills. The fun factor is no longer cranked up to 11.
This amazing tree house for adults in Nashville, Tennessee is doing its best to help out. Located in the Inglewood neighborhood, this treehouse is nicknamed the “Fox House.” The term comes from a line in a Wendell Berry poem.
Of course, this idyllic treehouse does have owners. Their names are Emily Southard and Sloane Southard. The couple made it their business to restore antique windows. This is exactly the kind of couple you would expect to have a childhood classic sitting in their backyard.
Now the world has taken notice and they want in!
So what exactly inspired the Sloanes to build the world’s most awesome treehouse in their backyard?
Antique glass, of course! The story goes that one day they found a pile of similar antique windows and decided to take them and do something awesome in their backyard.
Mission accomplished.
Being the adults they are, the Southards decorated the interior of the house appropriately. There is no hidden trampoline, bounce house, or water slide peaking out the back into a lake. That doesn’t mean the place isn’t child-friendly, it just means they took a different approach.
You can see from the bedroom below that if they ever need a break from their dormitory they can spend a night in their home away from home. It looks incredibly cozy and comfortable, don’t you think?
If that’s not your cup of tea, you can also just spend a day there reading a book and being lazy. Or whatever adults do now to relax. Watch Netflix on your phone?
That’s beside the point, though. The Southards made sure the interior could be flooded with natural light. They were inspired to build the house after finding windows after all!
Full of light, it’s hard not to imagine hanging out in this living room, drinking a mimosa, and spending a weekend in paradise, all the stress of the adult world disappearing around you.
The simple beauty of the treehouse reflects the lifestyle of the couple behind it. One look at the couple with their child tell you everything you need to know.
This is a couple that takes pleasure in the little things. Life can move too fast at times, and it’s necessary to bring it back down to speed.
The Southards live at the speed they want to, and it has allowed them to be very fortunate. They are lucky, and we are lucky to be able to share their gift with the world. And they want us to share their gift with the world. They are living the childhood dream as adults.
We need to find a way to stay young at heart to age gracefully down the road. Congratulations to Emily and Sloane Southard for finding a way to be young at heart forever.
