Young Child Opens Bakery To Pay For Mom’s Dream House

If this story doesn’t make you cry, then nothing will. This is the story of an 8-year-old boy who loves his mother so much he decided to start his own home bakery to pay for his her dream house.

The boy’s name is Jalen, and his mother is Sharhonda. She is one lucky lady. Jalen is super serious about his bakery.

Talking to ABC he said, “I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in.” That’s exactly what all little boys want for their mothers. Jalen is making it happen.

Working out of his small kitchen in Fresno, California, Jalen is making sprinkle cakes, sweet potato tarts, and peanut butter cookies. His specialty item is the cookies, of course.

There we see Jalen whipping up a batch of his sugar coma inducing specialty. The kitchen you see is not his, though. Here he is in a kitchen provided by ABC news to tape their segment.

The actual kitchen Jalen is working out of us is too small for camera and crew to fit in. In fact, it’s barely big enough for his own family!

In an effort to get his home bakery off the ground, Jalen went as far as to go to a local entrepreneur fair. While there, he impressed the crowd so much that a number of investors donated an oven to help him reach his goal.

An oven might not be money, but it is the tool he needs to earn some. Who knows how old the oven he was working with at home was. Now he won’t have to worry about the second most important tool in his journey breaking.

His most important tool is his heart, of course. And he has tons and tons of heart.

Once he buys his best friend her dream house, he plans to keep giving money. While he waits to be able to do that he is planning other ways to raise money for homeless.

How is a boy so young so much better than almost every adult on this planet? We swear this story could make even the worst person feel good about the world.

Really, Jalen’s story is exactly what we need more of. There is enough fear in the world, sometimes the reminder that good exists needs to be sprinkled in, just like peanut up butter chips. Jalen is a good person, and although he is young, it’s easy to believe he will grow up to be an even better man.

His community is responding in a big way too. Orders have been pouring in, and Sharhonda doesn’t mind one bit. In her own words, “It seems like the more orders he gets, the more excited he gets, and the more serious he gets about business.”
