The Treasure This Couple Found In An Old Chair Is Priceless
You never know what you’ll find at the auction. Sometimes it’s nothing, sometimes it’s not. Sometimes it’s a chair you think is nothing but turns out to be the world.
That’s exactly what happened to Angela Milner-Brown and her husband Angus.
About 10 years ago the couple decided they needed a chair for their living quarters. Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on new furniture, the decided to see what they could find at the auction.
They found a chair that looked nice enough and bet five euros on it. That equates to about seven American dollars.
Angela and Angus liked the chair, but something wasn’t quite right, so they decided to get the piece upholstered. Only they didn’t, because life got in the way. Finally, six years later, Angus took the chair in to get upholstered. When the chair was cut into, the treasure of a lifetime was found inside.
The treasure of a lifetime if you’re a hopeless romantic, that is. Inside the chair, Angus found a pair of diamond earrings, a diamond brooch, and a diamond ring.
Instead of telling Angela about his discovery, Angus decided to do something a little more romantic.
That year, on their wedding anniversary, Angus surprised Angela with a diamond ring. The next year, on Valentine’s day, he gave her the diamond earrings. Then, on Easter, he presented her the diamond brooch. How romantic!
Angela loved the surprises, but curiosity about the hidden diamonds was too much to handle. Recently the couple had the jewels appraised. The determined price of the diamonds was about $6,500.
Take that in. The chair that cost the couple a mere $7, was actually worth closer to $7,000! Of course, the romantic gesture that came from Angus was priceless, so the jewelry is not for sale. Nor should it ever be!
Still, one mystery does remain. Just who did the chair, and the diamonds, belong to in the first place? Angela and Angus don’t know, and neither does the auction house who sold them the chair.
When in doubt let the internet do the work for you. Unfortunately, that hasn’t yielded the answer either. In this case, maybe the mystery is better left unsolved. Just look at how happy the pair are not knowing.
What matters is that Angus and Angela have a love that is real, and a love that was only strengthened by a gesture so romantic you would think it would only happen in the movies.
This time, however, it happened in real life, and we should all be grateful for that. Angus has single-handedly reignited our passion for love and our lovers.
