New England Patriots superstars Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski took time out of their busy NFL schedules to help surprise walk-on college football player Justus Parker with a full scholarship.

Parker, a redshirt sophomore at Texas Tech, walked on to the football team and had a breakout year out of the blue. The defensive back played in all 12 games this year, starting six, and recorded 42 tackles and a fumble return for a TD. For his effort, he was named Second-Team All-Big 12.

Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury, in a video shared on Twitter, told his players that he had a special message for them. He then played a video featuring Amendola — a Texas Tech alum who was also walked on the football team — addressing the team via video from the Patriots’ team plane. Amendola specifically singled out Parker, lauding the standout walk-on player for his work ethic.

Amendola then introduced his teammate, superstar tight end Gronkowski, who announced that Parker is being awarded a full scholarship to Texas Tech. Upon Gronk’s announcement, Parker was mobbed by his teammates, who jubilantly celebrated the news.

Unbelievable moment getting told by @RobGronkowski and @DannyAmendola that I️ am officially on Scholarship!! Thankful and blessed to attend Texas Tech University

Parker himself took to Twitter to thank Amendola and Gronkowski and express how thankful he is for the scholarship and opportunity to attend Texas Tech.
