The story of Tonya Harding might almost be unbelievable — if it wasn’t true. Now, DCM Film is bringing the insane story to the big screen. Watch the official I, Tonya red band trailer below.

Margot Robbie plays Harding, the disgraced former figure skater who infamously hired a hitman to take out her main competitor, Nancy Kerrigan, at the 1994 Winter Olympics.

The film synopsis from IMDB states:

“Competitive ice skater Tonya Harding rises amongst the ranks at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, but her future in the activity is thrown into doubt when her ex-husband intervenes.”

Along with Robbie, the film stars Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney, Bobby Cannavale, and McKenna Grace as young Tonya Harding.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl), I, Tonya opens Dec. 8.
