AMC Reveals Return Date for ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8

Ahead of San Diego Comic Con on Thursday, AMC released new promotional art and the premiere date for The Walking Dead season eight.

The promo image shows Rick staring down Negan with all the major characters lined up beneath them. Last season set the stage for an “all out war” between Rick’s band of survivors and Negan’s brutal army. The season eight premiere will mark the 100th episode of the show, which will premiere October 22. In past years, the season premiere has coincided with the ending of New York Comic Con, but this year’s premiere falls two weeks later (NYCC will take place October 5-8).

Entertainment Weekly reported San Diego Comic Con will feature an AMC panel on Friday, July 21, where more information on the new season is likely to be revealed. EW also reported season eight will coincide with the “All Out War” storyline from the comic books.
