Freeform Announces ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Spin-Off with Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish
Get ready, Pretty Little Liars fans: A spin-off is coming.
As the final season of the Freeform series set ratings records this past June, rumors spread that series creator I. Marlene King was looking to continue the property with a new series. News this week confirmed those rumors, with the additional news that PLL cast members Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis) and Janel Parrish (Mona Vanderwaal) will be along for the ride.
Earlier this week, an announcement on the series’ official Instagram account confirmed the existence of the spin-off, confirming the name as Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
“We can’t keep it a secret any longer! A #PrettyLittleLiars spinoff pilot is in development at @Freeform. Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists stars @SashaPieterse27 & @JanelParrish… Welcome to Beacon Heights, Liars. Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, which is based on the popular book series The Perfectionists, written by @SaraCShepard, who also penned the #1 New York Times bestselling book series Pretty Little Liars. Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.”
The series will be based on an unrelated book series by original PLL author Sara Shepard. Pieterse and Parish will be used to link the two properties.

Pretty Little Liars was a cultural phenomenon so it’s no wonder fans wanted more. We can’t wait to continue Marlene King’s rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did.”
King added, “I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform and Warner Horizon. I can’t wait to introduce our fans – and Sasha and Janel – to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights.”
Both Pieterse — currently competing on Dancing with the Stars — and Parrish, currently starring in a Canadian run of Grease, commented on their Instagram accounts.
No timetable has been provided regarding the show’s production and subsequent release.
