Zoe Saldana celebrates 38th birthday
Zoe Saldana celebrated her 38th birthday in Cuba.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star was away working in the country’s capital city of Havana but made sure to mark her birthday at a local restaurant joined by the team at ‘People en Español’ magazine.
In a video posted online by the magazine’s editor in chief Armando Correa, Zoe sang the Dominican birthday song for her guests before thanking them for organising a cake for her.
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old actress – who has 18-month-old twin boys Cy and Bowie with her husband Marco Perego – previously opened up about her tough pregnancy, after she had to give birth to her sons prematurely by emergency C-section.
She said: "The boys came at 32 weeks. They found protein in my urine; my platelets crashed. I didn’t qualify for an epidural, so I delivered under general anesthetic. I didn’t even meet them until a day later …
"Looking back, I think the boys were three or four months old, and one morning I woke up with just this flood of emotions. Marco had them, too, and we were able to have our deconstruction session in the bathroom while they were napping, to say to each other, ‘Holy s**t, did we come close to it all changing forever?’ We allowed ourselves to have a moment of ‘poor us.’ And that was it. Then somebody cried, and it was, ‘Got to go!’"
However, Zoe feels blessed to have welcomed her children and admits she felt she was "missing something" in her life before she had them.
She added: "I’ve gone through a lot with it [my body] and I’m just embracing the place where I’m at. And I can’t just embrace the good things about it. You know, it’s not great.
"But when I was super fit I was missing something important in my life. Which is my partner and motherhood. And now that I have it, I don’t want to take it back so I’m willing to accept everything as it is."
