There are a lot of great ideas for crafts. While most are created using wood, clay or paper, there is an endless supply of things you can use to create your own masterpiece. But one underrated thing you can use to create cool crafts is food.
Everyone knows about using pasta and such to create art, but it goes beyond that. If you use your head and think, you can find some more amazing and creative foods to include as a part of your next craft project.
But this is not easy all the time. See, for a bunch of us, we have a hard time looking past the intended use of something. For example, whereas we see all food as just food, some really creative and artistic individuals may see it as an opportunity for a masterpiece. Thet may see an opportunity for something extra while most of us see trash.
One of these individuals is Kelli, who is a crafter and DIY expert from Ks Craft Shack. She finds herself often saving things that most of us would throw away without a thought. One thing she keeps is the shells from pistachios. While most of us would think this is crazy, there is a method behind her madness. She has been saving hundreds of these shells for a master plan and a very cool and unique piece of art.
Her masterpiece was to create a very cool and beautiful wreath out of some of these pistachios she saved. First up, though, she had to gather all of her supplies to get started. She got a 14-inch wreath base, hot glue gun and her hundreds of pistachios, which her and her family at over the previous few months.
The first step of the entire process is also the most time consuming according to Kelli. This included hot gluing the shells to the wreath, using low-temperature glue to reduce the time it would take to set. She also decided to arrange these shells and give them a floral form that looks very nice and almost makes you forget that it is made of pistachios.
In total, this process took her about 20 hours of work over the period of about a month, but all the hard work was worth it. It now looks amazing, but she was not even done yet. She wanted to add some color to her beautiful piece and she did just that.
The natural color looked cool and she liked it, but the problem was, she could see some of the hot glue on the shells. So she knew she wanted to add color, but didn’t know what kind. She tested a few of them out on some extra florets of shells she made, and she eventually settled on turquoise.
And she didn’t just spray paint the pieces, she used a mixture of two different shades to get two different textures, which looks amazing. After adding the first letter of her family name, the wonderful piece was complete and is sure to wow every guest in her home.
