There is little arguing that mason jars are amongst the most craftable little items on the market. While these are traditionally used for storing jams, jellies, pickled veggies or dozens of more items, people have come up with a ton of other and more creative uses for these little glass jars and lids.
It’s hard to really pinpoint why these have become some popular to use. It could be the fact that they come in a wide array of shapes and sizes, which means a ton of different things can be crafted using them. For example, people have made things like vases, candles, parcels and much more.
But with summer coming to an end and fall arriving, there is something else wonderful that can be made out of these little things. When most of us think of the fall, our minds first go to Halloween. And when we think of Halloween, we think of pumpkin. And as it turns out, these versatile little mason jars can even make a great pumpkin decorative craft, that is sure to be a hit this fall.
The woman behind the creation is Brandie Skibinski of The Country Cooks. She says this little craft is actually fairly easy to do and you don’t even need many supplies. Using only paint, mason jar bands, and some twine, you can have a perfect centerpiece for your fall home decor. This is by far one of the most creative ways we have seen mason jars get used and once again proves the versatility of them.
This is by far one of the most creative ways we have seen mason jars get used and once again proves the versatility of them. Because in this crafting example, the jars themselves aren’t even being used, just the little bands that help to form the lid. Read on to see just how Skibinski was able to create a brilliant little pumpkin decoration using these bands.
The first step is to remove about two dozen lid bands from their jars. Once you have enough for your creation, you want to lay them all down (preferably outside) and spray paint them all with a bright and vibrant orange color. Onde they were given enough time to completely dry, she used an orange thread to tie them together in a ring shape.
And once these orange rings are evenly lined up, you will be shocked at just how much it looks like a pumpkin. The grooved part of the bands should all be facing the same way to give it the best effect possible. And also, make sure the thread is tied tight enough so that the pumpkin won’t lose its shape. After your pumpkin is complete, you’re free to add your own artistic flair. Skibinski added a group of cinnamon sticks in the middle to act as the stem.
As you can see, the project looks amazing and didn’t take much time or money at all, and will likely get a ton of attention from all of your guests.
