You Won’t Believe Your Eyes After Seeing This Artist’s Work
Some of us are natural artists, and can draw pictures with ease. Others struggle to even draw a line on a sheet of paper. But for artist Nikola Čuljić, drawing is no challenge. Nikola is from Serbia, and his artistry skills are entirely self-taught.
The picture above looks like a normal can of coke sitting on a piece of paper. But if you look closely, you’ll realize it’s actually just a drawing. It’s not a sculpture or even 3-D paper. The drawing is entirely two-dimensional.
Nikola is able to create this effect by drawing a regular 3-D picture on paper. What he does to really make the picture pop is draw around the outline of part of the paper! His work is truly incredible, and something that you could stare at all day trying to figure out.
Nikola didn’t seem too interested in art when he first started. He found regular portraits difficult to achieve and was looking for something easier to catch his attention. So he began attempting to sketch 3-D drawings.
Nikola uses only colored pencils, pastels, and markers on white paper. And scissors, of course, to cut an outline of the images. It’s hard enough for some to draw a normal picture, but these are truly incredible.
It looks as though you could reach out and touch the drawings, but they’re all actually just flat, and on 2-D paper.
Nikola draws all sorts of images, from fruit to comic book characters. He mainly sticks to singular objects, as it’s easier to see the 3D aspects behind the drawings if it’s one object as opposed to multiple.
You can see in the image above that when the drawing is turned, it doesn’t look the same. Since it is only a 2-dimensional drawing, it can only be seen as 3-D from one angle, and as it is turned the image becomes skewed.
Nikola is young, though, so it is likely that as he continues drawing, he’ll be able to expand what he draws and create more layered drawings. He could possibly do whole scenes, and multiple objects at once as he continues to practice his art and master his craft.
Not only does regular sketching and drawing realistic images require intense skill, but being able to figure out how to proportions the dimensions to effectively create a 3D effect is something that only extremely skilled artists are able to master.
Without the 3-D effects, Nikola’s drawings alone are nothing less than incredible. But the fact that he is able to make objects look as though they are sitting on the surface directly in front of you is truly something that is hard to believe.
Like the picture above, he is already experimenting with drawing multiple objects. It looks as though the gun and the bullets are real, but they are all just strategically planned out drawings! Nikola is a truly amazing artist, and someone to follow and keep a close eye on. We’re greatly looking forward to what he might create in the future!
