A Woman’s Amazing Meeting With A White Police Officer Goes Viral
For the past few years there has been a rapid increase in the number of unarmed black people being killed by police officers.
Despite more of these incidents being captured on film and shared with news agencies and across social media channels, the escalation in violence has continued.
The war on race has been going on for too long and is boiling over at an increasing rate in the public spotlight.
Tiffany Sharell Block had been paying very close attention to these confrontations and she admitted to becoming increasingly afraid of confrontation with police officers. That all changed when she recently found her inner strength to step out of her comfort zone to extend an olive branch of peace and understanding.
Block unintentionally came across a police officer in order to show her children that despite what many people are saying, police officers are indeed human beings. And like all humans, they need and deserve love and respect as much as anyone else.
Block made a post on Facebook recently talking about how God has prompted her to show love in the midst of all of the racial unrest while she was working out at the gym.
She said that while at the gym, God had spoke powerful words to her and approached her with a challenge. God told her that while all lives matter, the one thing that trumps everything is love.
This encouraged Block to make her decision to find a police offer to extend her love. While pulling into the parking lot of her local grocery store, she saw Officer Eden sitting in his cruiser.
Block had a thirty minute conversation with Officer Eden about his career and daily challenges that he faces. After getting to know each other, Block admitted that with everything going on, her children have recently become afraid of police just because of their skin color.
To assure her children that not all officers are bad, Officer Eden gave the children badges and had one-on-one conversations with them, completely changing the way that they viewed cops for the better.
Block’s post of dialogue and photos of her and Officer Eden’s meeting have been shared more than 50,000 times and she encourages others to #LoveWhatMatters.
Fellow friends on Facebook seem to agree with Block’s message that #lovematters rather than just #blacklivesmatter or #alllivesmatter.
One Facebook on her page reminds everyone that turning the cheek is often difficult, love defeats hate at all times, and Block managed to set a great example for not only her children, but strangers as well.
Another user opened up about her own experience with her children. User Alex Hunt says that while she and her children have had limited experience with the police, she knew it was necessary to let them build trust and community with those who keep them safe. It just takes one person to be the change we not only want to see, but the change that we need to see.
