Nominations: 23 Wins: Seven The Beatles are arguably the greatest musical act in recent history, if not ever. They changed the landscape of music forever with iconic melodies, messages of peace, and inventive production techniques. They are and will always be the inspiration for practically everyone who plays music today. They started out as a group of lads from Liverpool, who joined together in 1960 to make some rock’n’roll. Those members include Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Stu Sutcliffe was originally on bass, but he left the band when he fell in love with Astrid Kirchherr, a German photographer. The group collectively has sold more than 600 million albums worldwide, more than anyone else. Almost every song they recorded became a classic, so you’ve likely heard anthems like “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude,” or “Let It Be.” They’ve only won seven Grammys, including Best New Artist in 1965 and Album of the Year in 1968 for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
