Tom Hiddleston’s mother impressed by Taylor Swift

Tom Hiddleston’s mother has been gushing over Taylor Swift.

Diana Hiddleston was thrilled when her 35-year-old actor son brought his new girlfriend home to Suffolk to meet her and says Taylor, 26, "was almost immediately part of the family".

A source told PEOPLE: "She thinks Taylor is the loveliest. She was so happy to meet her.

"Taylor was almost immediately part of the family. She was very easy to get to know and to speak with. Tom’s family sees him as a big celebrity, but Taylor is clearly on another level.

"They were just trying to have as much normality as possible. They had the most normal family weekend you could possibly have."

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris thinks it is "f***ing laughable" that Taylor has already met Tom’s family as she never made the effort to meet his parents during 15 months of dating.

Scottish DJ Calvin reportedly wanted Taylor to meet his mother and father in the UK but she told him it was too far away and he is now "bewildered and astonished" by Taylor’s recent jaunt to Suffolk to spend time with Tom’s family after just a few weeks together.

Taylor started dating Tom – who she met at the Met Gala in New York in May – immediately after her split from Calvin and friends say she is throwing herself into the relationship because the ‘Thor’ actor is exactly her type.

A source previously said: "Tom checks off a lot of boxes for Taylor. He’s hot, smart, talented, British, everything she’s into. What’s not to like? She’s going with it and why shouldn’t she? They have been bonding over the industry, their childhoods, where they are from. It’s the getting-to-know-you phase. Taylor is just happy to have the time to meet someone new and move on from Calvin."
