Caution: Spoilers ahead!

This Is Us premiered on Sept. 20, 2016 to an audience that absolutely fell in love with the show. The one-hour drama airs on NBC and features an award-winning ensemble cast. Parents, played by Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia, raise their three kids — two surviving triplets and one adopted African-American son, all of whom are played by a multigenerational cast including Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley. While the stars of the show have received praise for their dedicated and heartfelt performances, and their time-traveling portrayal of a family navigating a complicated world, some critics have accused it of being bait designed to wreak emotional havoc. Criticism aside, the show is in its third season, and fans and tissue manufacturers seem to be happy it's still around.

As heavy as the show is, you'd never guess how much fun the cast has filming it, or what goes on behind the scenes. That's where we come in. Who wears a fat suit? Which characters are based on real characters? What the heck is Beard-Gate?! Find out all of that and more in our list of crazy, possibly secret, This Is Us facts.
