Teacher Writes Students Heartwarming Letter Before Standardized Tests
If your child came home telling you that they cried at school, what would you do? Most parents would assume the worst- either their kid was bullied, received a bad grade, got in trouble, or was hurt at recess. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case for 9-year-old Rylan Martin. As embarrassed as he was, he told his mother, Abby, that he cried at school because he was so happy.
In preparation for upcoming standardized tests, Rylan’s classmates felt stressed of what was to come. Their amazing teacher gave each of their students a note telling them about things that are more important to life than a test score, like other personal attributes. In the letter, pictured below thanks to Martin’s Instagram, you can read that Rylan’s teacher told the class that test scores don’t define you as a person, a lesson that far too many student don’t hear before they begin their standardized testing.
