The Source of This Baby’s Illness on Vacation is Disgusting
One of the biggest concerns when traveling abroad to a foreign destination is definitely the possibility of illness. There are a ton of potential reasons why people could fall ill while on vacation.
People on the plane can get others sick, viruses in different countries can lead people to become ill and you never know quite how clean the hotel or resort you are staying at really is. Not only is being sick on vacation a bummer and can put a damper on your trip, but it can also be costly if a doctor’s visit or medication is needed.
But for the Middleton family, they weren’t all that worried about this before their family trip to Portugal. This is because they had a new addition to the family, little 8-month-old Emily. It would be the first time the family (who also have two sons) would be able to go on a trip together with all five of them.
But unfortunately, as soon as the trip began, Emily fell ill. She had diarrhea and was vomiting uncontrollably, which was obviously putting a damper on the trip, also, her family was incredibly worried about what caused this. In addition to this, one of her brothers also got sick.
So after some digging, the family found out that Emily had gotten sick from the moldy placemats in the dining room of the hotel they were staying at. Now, these placemats looked lovely and clean, but upon further inspection, they were all wiped with the same cloth and thus was contaminating in nature.
Because Emily’s food was placed directly on the mat to eat, she became the sickest of the bunch. But she wasn’t the only one. Almost the entire family got sick as a result of this bug. While the family received almost $10,000 as a result of the disaster, it may not have been worth it.
This is because Emily remained sick for around a month after returning from the vacation. However, she is doing well now and we are happy she is no longer sick. This is a cautionary tale to families everywhere to be as clean and safe on vacation as you can.
