See how this blogger is inspiring thousands of people every day
We just love a good overcomer story! Meet Cacsmy Brutus, aka Mama Cax, a 25-year-old fashion icon, and world famous blogger. She travels around the world and shares her journeys with thousands of followers on her blog. But, that’s not all there is to her story. Keep reading to find out more!
When Cax was just fourteen years old, she was diagnosed with a form of late-stage bone and lung cancer. Doctors gave her just three weeks to live! But, she and her family found hope and healing in a risky surgery and an experimental drug.
Her right leg was amputated almost up to her hip, and a newly-developed type of chemotherapy forced her disease into remission. By all measures, Cax is now a living, breathing medical miracle!
She has taken her second lease on life very seriously! She truly lives every day to the fullest and spreads an important message of finding joy and inspiration in the world around you. Plus, she has been able to see the world and have a blast while doing it!
Cax was born in New York City but spent most of her childhood in Montreal and Haiti. With an early life like her’s, it’s no wonder she got bitten by the travel bug! When she was seventeen, she went on a trip to Puerto Rico. She loved traveling so much that she planned more excursions and has now been to over twenty countries on five different continents! In this photo, you can see her exploring the majestic beauty of Iceland!
As you can see in this photo, she wears a prosthetic leg to help her navigate the world with one less leg. But, in her true fashionista type of way, Cax has partnered with a company called Alleles that creates functional and beautiful covers for prosthetic legs. She changes her cover out based on what outfit she’s wearing.
Many people with prosthetic legs struggle to accept their life after amputation. But, Cax has tried her best to accept her body and the stories it can tell. She knows that everyone’s body is strong and capable. She encourages other young women to embrace their bodies.
Mama Cax also works with young girls with disabilities to mentor them and encourage them to live their best life. She says, “As women,” she says, “we are accustomed to letting others dictate our worth. My advice to any young woman out there, know your worth, figure out what you want, set up a plan, and go for it.” What an important and powerful message! She truly has figured out how to love herself.
Our world is full of depressing stories and people with low self-esteem. It’s no wonder that many people struggle with their body image. Fortunately, there are people who have learned how to accept themselves and make the most of every day. We need more inspirational women like Mama Cax out here in the world. She truly can teach us all an important lesson about loving yourself and owning your story!
