See Why This Classic Couch Used to Drive
In the modern day, boring and plain rooms are a thing of the past. No matter what a person’s style is (modern, traditional or anything in between), people want some “personality” in their home and their rooms.
And perhaps the best and easiest way to give your room and home some character is with the furniture you decide to include in it. And the piece of furniture you are about to read about and see oozes character and personality in every sense of the word.
Out of all the cool DIY projects and transformations out there, this has to be at or near the top of the list of the most amazing. The project that this car lover decided to take up was transforming his old and broken down 1957 Chevy and brought it back to life. Only he didn’t put a new engine in it so he could rip around town in it, he turned the historic car into a gorgeous living room couch.
And while this may seem like a big job for some, you can’t help but admire and appreciate this transformation that has to be truly one of a kind. In addition to being a great centerpiece to any room and being beautiful, this will be the ultimate story for the creator and will be a conversation piece for everyone who sees it, no matter if they like cars or not. Now let’s take a closer look at how he made this magical transformation happen.
When this all started out, the DIY creator was looking at nothing but the hollowed out back shell of a 1957 Chevy car in a beautiful and bright red. And while that in itself was nothing spectacular to look at, he had big ideas in dreams in his head to create one of the coolest couches ever.
His first move was to create and fit a metal support frame that would go inside the car shell which would act as the base and would support the couch itself.
And after adding some cheap and simple pieces of wood, he was getting closer to his dream. And he didn’t want just any old couch or cushions to use on this badass piece of furniture. So he decided to track down a back seat of an old 1994 Thunderbird to act as the couch and add to the “auto-inspired” aspect of the sofa.
He even added some wheels to the bottom on the couch so that it could be easily moved around the room. And after a solid clean up and polishing of the couch and all its parts, it was ready for his living room.
The final product is an amazing addition to his room that will surely impress everyone, car-lover or not. While this project might not be something everyone wants, the idea is always the same. This is a great example how something you no longer have any use for can be transformed into something you use in the day, also saving you hundreds of dollars in the process.
