Being pregnant and having a child is definitely one of the biggest moments and sacrifices a woman can make. Not only does this basically mean you agree to care for this new little human for at least 18 years, but they are someone that will always be a part of your life. While these sacrifices are an easy choice to make for most mothers, they shouldn’t be ignored, women do a lot and give up a lot to bring a baby into the world.
Another massive sacrifice that often goes unappreciated by a lot of people is that you have to endure nine months of massive changes to your body and life, which culminate in a birthing process that isn’t that easy either. And in terms of the changes to your body, they are often monumental. And if you are someone who works out a lot of makes sure to stay in shape, you will have to somewhat put that on the backburner for a few months. In addition to that, you can often deal with things like morning sickness, cravings, cramps and other things that aren’t too comfortable to deal with.
In a pregnancy, it is generally normal to gain anything from 20-40 pounds when pregnant. And once having the child, losing that weight is no easy task sometimes. But despite how hard that weight is to lose, people still do it. We see countless photos on TV, the internet, and social media of new mothers jumping right back into their healthy lifestyle and shedding that baby weight in a hurry.
And probably the most common way to show this progress is by using side by side, before and after photos. These are often groups of two or three photos that show your weight before the baby, the pregnant weight and then the weight after pregnancy. These are a good way to show others that you are committed to a healthy lifestyle and could possibly motivate others to do the same.
But with so many new mothers feeling the pressure of losing the weight, it can sometimes be too much. And it’s not always easy to lose the weight for some people, which can leave them to being depressed or unhappy with their new, post-baby bodies.
Well, that is exactly what Austrailian mother Laura Mazza struggled with. She used to be very fit and in shape, but after having a baby, she struggled to come to terms with how she now looked. But after quite a while, she figured this was not the right attitude to have. She had been unhappy and not loving herself for so long, it was time to start loving herself again.
It was at this point that she decided to upload the unconventional picture. Instead of one showing a ton of weight loss, she posted one that praised her body for all that it had done and wanted the picture to help other moms struggling with weight to do the same.
