Man Who Walked 16 Miles Every Day To Work Two Jobs Got A Car Thanks To Viral Post
Many people think they have it tough if they have to drive or take the bus an extended period of time to work, but it’s good to remember that there’s always someone in a worse situation! Remembering that can help us all to appreciate that our situation isn’t so bad.
A man from New Hampshire is one of those people that will humble us with his incredible story. Kyle Bigler is from Belmont, New Hampshire and he’s been walking roughly 16 miles each and every day. The payoff isn’t so great as he works two minimum wage jobs.
Bigler is well known around Belmont, especially for his fantastic service at one of his jobs serving coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts. He was popular for his personable manner and the ability to memorize almost every regular patron’s coffee order.
What people didn’t know, was that after he finished his Dunkin’ Donuts shift, he then had to walk almost nine miles to work the graveyard shift at a gas station. Not known to be a complainer, no one would’ve ever known about Bigler’s hard journey if someone didn’t witness it taking place.
Joanna Griffiths, a regular customer of Dunkin’ Donuts, got her morning coffee from Bigler one day around 7:30 in the morning. She saw Bigler again much later in the day as he walked to his gas station job. Griffiths made a point of going to the gas station that night at 11:00, and she offered Bigler a ride. He graciously declined as he explained that he still had to work a few more hours on his shift.
This incident motivated Griffiths to post this story of an incredibly hard-working and likable young man on Facebook. “This young man walks over 16 miles every single day between both of his jobs, and he makes minimum wage at both,” she wrote in her Facebook post on July 6. “This man is an amazing example that shows that if you’re ambitious, motivated, and hard-working, anything is possible!”
Unsurprisingly, the post soon went viral and garnered over 20,000 shares. People couldn’t believe the extent Bigler had to go to in order to work both jobs.
One of the people that saw the post and couldn’t believe it was Ryan Parks. Parks is a sales manager at a local car dealership. Parks immediately went to the owner of the dealership to ask if they could donate a car to Bigler in order to help him get to work. The owner enthusiastically replied that he wanted to get Bigler a car right away!
“I was really moved by Kyle’s work ethic and his endurance even when things were difficult,” Parks said. “I feel like those qualities are ones we don’t see as often these days, and it was really refreshing to see them.”
Being given a car so that he doesn’t have to walk so far between jobs was completely unexpected, but it’s definitely a well-deserved reward for a hard worker like Bigler and it’s likely very life-changing.
This beautiful story demonstrates that sometimes our hard work will be rewarded, even if we might think our work goes unnoticed. We hope this story encourages you to keep enduring and to remember that someone out there appreciates it!
