Kim Kardashian West promises ‘naked selfies until I die’
Kim Kardashian West promised "naked selfies until I die" as she collected the first Break the Internet Award at the 2016 Webby Awards on Monday evening (05.16.16).
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star – who caused a stir earlier this year by stripping off for a selfie, covering her modesty with just two black bars – was honored for her "undeniable talent and natural ability to use the Internet to create buzz, engage with fans and communities, and get the world to pay attention".
And the 35-year-old television personality – who infamously attempted to "break the Internet" with her cover shoot for Paper magazine – was praised for her "unparalleled success online" and great "understanding of how to connect with a global audience via social media".
A post on the Webby Awards’ official website reads: "The Webby Awards are excited to honor Kim Kardashian West with the inaugural Webby Break The Internet Award for her unparalleled success online. It would be difficult to underestimate the importance of Kim Kardashian West’s impact on the Internet.
"As the leading celebrity in terms of her online presence and understanding of how to connect with a global audience via social media, apps and online video, Kim has set the standard incredibly high. She has shaped our understanding of how someone or something can draw the popular attention of Internet users everywhere. To the degree that she’s created a new type of celebrity – publicising her life to the benefit of herself and her family – is due to the Internet.
"Kim’s preternatural sense of being in the public eye, sees her appearing at seemingly every major cultural moment, most notably, her support of Caitlyn Jenner’s sex change. Likewise, with her suite of apps including the latest, Kimoji, which skyrocketed to the top of the most-downloaded list, Kim has expanded her celebrity into new territories and, safe to say, to a high degree of success as well. For breaking the Internet and putting it back together in her likeness, it is our privilege to honor Kim Kardashian West with the first-ever Webby Break the Internet Award."
Kim’s husband Kanye West – who has two-year-old daughter North and five-month-old son Saint with the reality star – was not present at the event but was the recipient of the Webby Artist of the Year award.
