Incredible Siblings Lemonade Stand Raises $5,000 To Help Their Parents Adopt A Baby
Most people have shared the common experience of running a small business as a child. Maybe it was mowing lawns, shoveling driveways, or delivering newspapers. Most of the time we had those businesses to make money for our own little purposes, like buying candy, toys, or going to see a movie.
A brother and sister recently bucked that trend by starting their own lemonade stand for what is possibly the most unselfish reasons. The proceeds did not go to their own selfish purchases, but instead, they started a lemonade stand in the hopes of adopting a baby sister.
Kiefer and Willow Martin are the brother and sister team that came up with this idea, and while they’re not the only children to do something so unselfish, they are to be commended for it. Another boy recently ran a lemonade stand for the noble purpose of helping fund his best friend’s life-saving surgery.
Emily Martin, the mother of Kiefer and Willow, shared with the media that the kid’s goal was to raise at least $10,000 for the fees associated with adopting a child. While the actual fees can vary from $20,000 to $30,000, it’s the thought that counts. Their parents likely would not complain about any kind of contribution!
The siblings are not unfamiliar with the concept of having another brother or sister as their mother is a teacher, and she’s fostered children before. Emily commented that the children are always very sad whenever the foster children have to return home, so they very clearly enjoy the company.
The adoption process can be quite long, so it’s unclear when exactly the Martin’s will experience an addition to their family. What is for certain, though, is that whenever they do adopt a new child, that child will be very welcomed and loved in their new home.
In the short time they’ve been running the lemonade stand, Kiefer and Willow have raised an incredible $5,000! As remarkable as that is, they know they’re only halfway to their goal, and they hope to make it to $10,000 by the end of the summer.
These siblings set an incredible example in working hard for something that you want. While it’s more common for most young children to want toys and candy, these two are more interested in expanding their family. Their efforts to do so are admirable, and we can only hope more children imitate their unselfish attitude.
