Ella Mae Colbert, a retired teacher who volunteers at a South Carolina middle school set a new world record for running the 100 Meter Dash, only a week after celebrating her 100th birthday! She has been running track since high school, and credits her record breaking speed to her 3-mile runs that she goes on with her niece and nephew.
The previous record for 100-year-old runners for this distance was one minutes and 17 seconds, but Colbert shattered that time at 46.791 seconds! Even though she fell during her first attempt, she got right back up and tried again, with far more success.
