Even Old Pallets Can Be Turned Into Stunning Furniture
When you think of a pallet, the last thing you probably think of is elegant furniture or a brilliant addition to a room. A pallet is nothing but an old collection of planks of wood pieced together and used for shipping and receiving goods to and from factories and stores. However, as one man has shown, these basic and often worn out pieces of wood can too be transformed into brilliant pieces of art and even functional furniture with some hard work and time.
This man (known as timmm3000 on Imgur) is no stranger to using pallets to create beautiful pieces as he has already created four great pieces of furniture with pallets as his primary tool, each more interesting and difficult than the last.
And his fifth project would be no different. When he heard his friend needed more counter space in his kitchen, the man did what he does best. Using pallets, he created a beautiful and mobile kitchen cabinet for his friend that would not only be functional and practical but also improve the look of his kitchen as a whole.
He had to begin this project by finding pallets that would be suitable. As you know, most pallets suffer through a ton of wear and tear and thus are often broken or warped from hundreds of pounds of pressure over the months and years. After finding some sturdy pallets, sanding them, and removing any loose nails or screws, he was ready to get to work.
After ripping apart the selected pallets for their planks, he began to adjoin the old planks of wood together and began to set the shape of the cabinet. And after setting the structure, he added wheels to the bottom as his friend wanted it to be mobile.
Not only was this a standard cabinet, he added a mini shelf in right under the counter and that could add even more counter space for his friend. By the end, it was roomy enough to fit a panini press and microwave in the middle shelf.
While he has done pallet work before, this proved fairly difficult as he even did the smaller, lower cabinets with wood from the pallets. But after some precise cutting and fitting, he made it work and it looked amazing.
And since every good cabinet needs a solid countertop, which of course, he also made out of wood from pallets. After sanding the countertop and applied it with a number of heavy coats or varnish, that part of the cabinet was finished.
After hitting the rest of the cabinet with three fresh coats of white paint, it was all but ready to be sent over to his friend. After some more finishing and cleaning, the cabinet was ready. Not only did it look amazing in his kitchen, and had the mobility to be moved throughout said kitchen, it also gave him much more counter space to work with. After seeing this gorgeous piece, I bet you wish you had a friend like this man, I know I do.
