Daniel Radcliffe unsure he’ll see Potter play
Daniel Radcliffe thinks it would be "weird" for him to see ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’.
The ‘Now You See Me 2’ actor shot to fame playing the boy wizard in the hit movie franchise and is reluctant to see the upcoming new play in case his presence in the audience distracts from what is going on on stage.
He told E! News: "It would be a weird one. I could be completely wrong in this, but I feel like if I went to see it that night, there’s going to be a lot of ‘Harry Potter’ fans there in the audience obviously and would that then become a thing?
"Would it be more about them watching me watch the show or would it take away from the show. I would never want to do anything that would distract or take away from the show.
"I don’t know. I’m busy doing a play here at the moment, but I’m not sure."
Author J.K. Rowling recently pleaded with fans not to spoil the plot of the play for other audience members.
She said in a YouTube video: "You’ve been amazing for years at keeping Harry Potter secrets so you don’t spoil the books for readers who came after you.
"So I’m asking you one more time to keep secrets and let audiences enjoy ‘Cursed Child’ with all the surprises that we’ve built into the story.
"Potter fans have always had each other’s backs."
The play – which will begin preview performances at London’s Palace Theatre on July 7 – is set 19 years after the last book ended and sees Harry as an "overworked" employee of the Ministry of Magic and centers on his son Albus.
