This Dad Uses Baseball Bats to Create a Beautiful Headboard for his Son
For a lot of parents, some of the most fun they can have is helping to be involved in the decoration of their bedrooms. And while it can be fun and a great bonding experience, some children are very picky about what they want in their bedroom.
And some compromise is also needed as parents want something that will last and their children will like for years, while kids often want crazy colors and other over the top additions. So there has to be a middle ground that is still unique and fun for the children, but also still practical for the parents.
One great way is to incorporate interests into the decoration of their room such as their favorite movies, TV shows and even sports. Well, that is exactly the idea that this DIY dad had for his son’s room. His son was a huge baseball fan, and this dad knew exactly what he wanted to do.
He decked out his son’s room head to toe with baseball regalia but needed a piece of tie it all together. His wife found a very cool baseball bat headboard online, but it was a whopping $550. However, this father felt he could do a better job with his own two hands, also saving himself hundreds of dollars in the process.
The family bought a few baseball bats online and he was ready to get to work on this amazing piece for his son’s room. He used a total of 12 bats for this piece with half upside down and half right side up, which gives it a very cool and unique look.
And while it already looked pretty cool at this point, he decided it needed some staining. And boy, that was a very good idea. After staining the newly created headboard, it was amazing to see just how much the baseball bats and the entire piece “popped”.
After installing the headboard, it really helped bring the room together. And his son absolutely loves it and has thanked his father for it over and over again. Even if you’re not a baseball fan, you have to appreciate the greatness of this room.
