Named one of the “best viral videos of 2009,” A Very Potter Musical was a little different than most of the popular YouTube vids out there back then. For starters, it was actually 23 viral videos that ran well over two hours total. More importantly, though, it was literally a brand new musical. StarKid Productions, a new theatre company run by students from the University of Michigan, produced the hilarious Harry Potter parody as their first original musical and decided to upload the video to YouTube. Their careers took off from there, and they’re still producing popular, funny musicals, but nobody’s career was launched further than their Harry, Darren Criss! (That’s Blaine from Glee, guys.)
