Irish-American actress Saoirse Ronan popped onto the global scene with her 2007 role in Atonement. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and she’s followed that critically acclaimed performance up with cinematic hit after hit — The Lovely Bones, Byzantium, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, to name a few. And let’s not forget her role in the 2016 Broadway revival of The Crucible. Racking up the successes, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance in 2017’s Lady Bird. Ronan has come a long way from her debut role in 2003 — in which she appeared in the Irish medical drama series The Clinic — and the actress shows no signs of slowing down either: This year saw her star in The Seagull, and her next movie, Mary Queen of Scots, in which she plays the titular role, is in post-production.
