Sometimes, people have a hard time interacting with the world around them. That is the reality of Cynthia Walker, a 22 year old with CHARGE syndrome, whose mother says she typically can’t order food “without people staring at her”. For those who don’t know, CHARGE syndrome is a birth defect that severely impairs hearing and vision.
When Walker went to Chick-fil-A with her mother, she had no idea what would happen next. To her surprise, the cashier, named Taylor, started asking what she wanted in perfect sign language. “Taylor did not miss a beat on greeting us with a warm smile, and asking my daughter first what she would like,” Walker’s mom said, “My daughter was so surprised and happy.”
Check out the heart-warming encounter below, and SHARE if you think the world should have more people like Taylor!
