Director: Andrew Adamson, Vicky Jenson Cast: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz Unlike many of Disney’s adapted fairy tales in which the stories are sweeter, happier versions of the originals, Dreamworks went a different route with the Shrek tale. Prince Charming is an ogre and Princess Fiona isn’t all that princess-like. The comedy most clearly spoofs Disney films, characters, and even Disney World. Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Snow White are just some of the characters present. Lord Farquad’s castle imitates Disney World's famous “It’s a Small World After All” ride. The parody proved successful, as it received the first-ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
