You may have updated the bathroom, renovated the kitchen or even added another bedroom. Whatever the changes that have been done, few people have their home be the exact same over the years. But unfortunately, some of these big changes to your house or even an individual room can be very expensive and/or time-consuming. While adding a painting here and there on a wall may only cost you a few dollars here and there, updating a room can cost much more. While fixing an entire room will, of course, cost you thousands, even adding a new piece of furniture into a room can even run you hundreds of dollars. And sadly, not everyone just has hundreds of dollars to throw around at new furniture. But when it comes to home decor, when there is a will, there is a way.

In recent years, DIY furniture and other projects have become all the rage and some people have gotten so good at it that not only have they created a number of beautiful and homemade pieces of furniture, but they have also saved hundreds and even thousands of dollars in the process.

One such person is April Bee. She is an expert on DIY projects on a budget and her friend had an interest in getting a new entertainment center and Bee wanted to help. Her idea was to turn a cheap and old dresser into an amazing new entertainment center.

The first step was to find her dresser. She accomplished that step when she found a beat up and old dresser at Goodwill for the grand ole price of $13.  It eas beat up, with scratches and broken with a style that was very much outdated.

But April saw past all that and thought it was the perfect piece to craft a new entertainment center that her friend would absolutely love. Her next step was to get all the supplies she would need. She would definitely need a few tools for her job such as a hammer, screwdriver, a sander and more.

After removing all the aspects she didn’t need, and sanding the project down (which can be a tedious process), it was already looking better. The also new the color needed a definite upgrade so she gave it a slick coat of jet black paint that brings it into the 21st century. The finished product looks amazing and unrecognizable.

It really is amazing what a few hours of hard work and a few cheap supplies can create. She took a $13 dresser and turned it into an entertainment unit that would have cost far more than that.

Here is a great video that shows the process of turning this old and ratty dresser into an amazing and modern entertainment center: http://www.littlethings.com/old-dresser-entertainment-center/
