Amber Rose opens up about Val Chmerkovskiy split
Amber Rose insists her split with Val Chmerkovskiy was mutual.
The 33-year-old singer was spotted locking lips with her former husband Wiz Khalifa at a Grammys bash over the weekend but insisted that she had not dumped Val for Wiz, and she and the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ professional are still friends.
Amber wrote on Instagram: "Wiz and I are family and we will be family for the rest of our lives for Sebastian. We’ve been through hell and back so a kiss on the lips for a photo and a fun night out is not a big deal for either of us, we are in a great place but we are very much still divorced and not together.
"And to the Awesome person I got to spend the past five months with (Val) and I broke up due to our own personal reasons but we still care about each other tremendously and love each other’s families even more.
"So please understand that we are all human and we have feelings too. Nobody got dumped and nothing over here is malicious it’s just how life works sometimes."
Amber – who has three-year-old son Sebastian with Wiz – started dating Val last year after being partnered with his brother Maksim on ‘DWTS’.
And following their split, Val, 30, took to Instagram to call her "an amazing woman" and "a loving human".
He said: "I’m addressing this topic solely in the hopes that y’all will stop spamming my posts. We decided to end our relationship a week ago, and did so with humility and understanding.
"She’s an amazing woman that I feel very lucky to have gotten to know and love. An amazing mother, an awesome friend, a loving human period. Reserved, poised, and loyal. To stress that to the more common folk ‘she loyal af.’ (sic)"
The star then went on to state that the couple lead "very different lives" which caused the split.
He continued: "We both lead very different lives and unfortunately it didn’t work out between us, but what does that even mean? Maybe it worked out perfectly.
"I will continue to support her, praise her, and defend her against any narrow minded individual that dares to question her integrity as a woman, a friend, and most importantly the INCREDIBLE MOTHER THAT SHE IS TO HER SON! It’s hard to do it all by yourself especially while the world stares and judges..but she does. every single day…. for that alone I’ll always have her back. (sic)"
