You Won’t Believe What’s Inside These Boxes In This Arkansas Town
You may have seen little libraries around your own neighborhood while strolling down the sidewalk. Often times, they just look like normal little boxes, something slightly bigger than a mailbox. Most commonly, they’re used for books, so that neighbors can have their own little library and book exchange.
But what this Arkansas Woman did with the box is changing the way her town works.
One day, Jessica McClard was jogging around her town when she thought of the idea to use the boxes for food rather than books. The trend quickly caught on, and hundreds of the boxes have appeared around her town in the past year.
If you’ve ever found yourself with food around that you don’t want to eat, but maybe your local donation center is too far away, or you don’t even know where it is, then this box is for you! Instead of tossing food they might not eat, these Arizona residents are able to donate food to the boxes, where those in need can take what’s necessary for their survival.
Not only do the boxes contain food, but sometimes they’ll have other items, like toothpaste and diapers.
They sometimes even have school supplies! Anyone can donate to the box, and anyone can take! The boxes are completely based on the honor system, and so far it seems to be working for these residents.
It’s a great idea and something that will hopefully be featured in towns all across the country!
