Woman and Her Dog Get Their Lives Saved by a Good Samaritan
If you or your family have ever owned a pet, you know they are more than just animals. These little furry friends are more like a beloved member of our families. And if you are ever faced with a life or death situation, there is no doubt that as soon as you are safe, you will be looking out for them.
And that is the exact scenario that a woman faced after nearly drowning in her car during the floods in Louisiana. In case you are unfamiliar with the happenings in Louisiana recently, let me get you up to speed.
In early to mid-August of 2016, record amounts of torrential rainfall hit the southern part of Louisiana. This rain caused mass flooding that has since resulted in 13 deaths and millions of damages. It is being called the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy and, according to a National Hydrometeorological Center, this amount of rainfall only has a .1 percent chance of ever happening or once every 1,000 years.
So now that you know what is happening, let’s take you back to that struggle that a woman and her dog faced. Driving through a little bit of water, the woman soon lost control of her car as it began to get swept away by the flood. And soon, it began to sink.
However, just as the car was about to be completely submerged, a group of people riding by on a boat managed to hear her screams for help. If they wouldn’t have been there, there is a high chance that she and her dog would have died.
But thankfully, the group was there. But after attempts to break the windows failed, a man on the boat named David Phung sprung into action. He dived into the water and heroically saved the woman from the sinking car. But as she came up for her first breath, the first thing she did was yell that her dog was still in the car.
While some of the men on the boat said the dog was probably gone, Phung went back down anyways. And moments later, he came back up with a dog in his hands, very much alive. The woman was obviously overcome with emotions and thankfulness for the man for not only saving her life but also her beloved pets.
You can check the video out here and relive this amazing moment where a man saves two lives that were within seconds of ending. Even in a world where seemingly everyone is out for their best interests only, people like David Phung continue to show that selflessness is still alive and well.
