Rey Seeks Answers in Heart-Pounding New ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Trailer
After teasers hit the internet over the weekend, on Monday, Disney and Lucasfilm debuted the newest trailer for the holiday season’s most anticipated movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Watch:
The Last Jedi picks up after the events of 2015’s The Force Awakens, where Rey (Daisy Ridley) seeks the last known Jedi alive, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who went into hiding following the original trilogy’s Return of the Jedi.
Along with Ridley and Hamill, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Issac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, and Carrie Fisher star in the sequel.
Fisher passed away in December 2016 after filming wrapped on The Last Jedi. Disney has not confirmed what is in store for Fisher’s character, General Leia Organa, in the forthcoming Episode IX, due for release in December 2019. The trailer however provides a cliffhanger scene as Kylo Ren (Driver) flies a ship ostensibly toward Leia with his finger ready to fire. Kylo Ren is the son of Leia and Han Solo, whom Ren famously killed in The Force Awakens. Will his mother meet the same fate at his hands?
The new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer is the first full-length preview to be released since Disney and Lucasfilm unveiled an official teaser trailer at San Diego Comic Con in July.
Also on Monday hours before the trailer premiere, a new poster was released. You can view that below.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is directed by Rian Johnson (Looper) and will hit theaters on December 15.
