Listen To Majestic Music Through A 230 Foot Organ in Croatia
In Croatia in the coastal city of Zadar, there is a 230-foot organ that can play beautiful and haunting music using ocean water. The pretty music sounds similar to tunes you would hear at a carnival. The sounds are lighthearted, but sometimes haunting in the same note. Such earthly spots serve as a therapeutic space to chill out and relax, especially on vacation. Sights and sounds delight the mind as visitors forget their cares and worries for awhile.
Tourists Delight
A group of tourists takes in the amazing music of the Sea Organ.
The sounds are harmonized by the wind and water of the Adriatic Sea and the organ is played by the sweet sounds of Mother Nature on a 24-hour basis so it is ready for eager tourists that visit the area.
An architect by the name of Nikola Basic from Croatia created and installed the organ back in the year 2005. Nikola was born in 1946 and he also created “The Sun Salutation” which is a large public circle of solar panels which are paved into the ground. When night falls, the panels light up in patterned lights that dance in sequence. The sight is quite a light show. So tourists not only get to hear the Sea Organ on the seafront they can also check out the glorious light show as well. Below is a picture of the lights that illuminate the floor.
The Sun Salutation
The “Sun Salutation” brings many tourists to Croatia.
The Sea Organ or “morske orgulje” is strategically designed to look like a mesmerizing set of steps with specifically placed holes that the water enters and then “channels” into echoing chambers. Next, elements of water and wind leave these holes and a magical sound is heard. The music ebbs and flows through the highest level of steps.

The organ site is sometimes a favorite lunch spot for tourists and locals, but the site was not always filled with such beauty. The area was totally destroyed during WWII. All that was left of the area was a long shoreline of concrete and unsightly concrete structures. Now all of that rubble is replaced with the beauty of this magnificent organ.
