Comic Con International was held this past weekend in San Diego, California, and each year, the convention is packed with first looks and exclusive premieres for some of comics’ most anticipated projects. On Saturday, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment dropped a highly anticipated new look at Justice League, fresh on the heels of the massive success of Wonder Woman.
Justice League will be the fifth installment of WB’s extended comic universe and a sequel of sorts to last year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film will officially unite Batman and Wonder Woman with The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to face off against an imminent threat to Earth, the villain Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds, Game of Thrones). In the comics, Steppenwolf serves as a henchman to the all-powerful Darkseid, a villain who will be featured in a future Justice League movie. Justice League also fully introduces Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg, characters teased in BvS, as well as introducing a new Commissioner James Gordon, played by Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons.
Justice League hits theaters November 17. Check out the trailer and new poster below.
Along with the new trailer, Warner Bros. announced a sequel to Wonder Woman, which last week became the franchise’s highest grossing film, as well as the summer blockbuster season’s highest earner.
