Homeless Man Asked A Cashier What He Could Get For 50 Cents And Onlookers Were Floored By His Answer
Watching the news often causes many people to believe that there’s more bad news than there is good. On top of that, the unfortunate reality of life is that sometimes bad things happen to good people. While this might be true, it doesn’t mean that there’s not good in the world as well. We hope this bit of good news will brighten your day and remind you to be positive!
Even though a lot of people and news providers use Facebook to share bad news, some people prefer to share acts of kindness and heartwarming stories. Michelle Resendez is one of those people.
Michelle’s son Matthew works at Burger King, and he recently related a story to her that she had to share. A homeless man walked into the store when Matthew was working, and the man only had fifty cents to his name.
The homeless man asked if there was anything on the menu that he could buy for fifty cents, and although Burger King is a very affordable place to eat and even has a value menu, there was nothing the man could afford.
Matthew couldn’t help but do a kind act for the man. Even though Matthew doesn’t make a large pay cheque, he used his own money to pay for the man’s meal and told him to have a seat and relax.
Most businesses don’t like to have homeless people loitering on their premises out of fear of scaring away potential customers, but Matthew just saw a hungry man that needed a place to eat. In her Facebook post, Michelle commented that this was very much a “proud mom moment.”
While that kind act is heartwarming in itself, that’s only one part of the story. Matthew didn’t expect to get anything in return for his kindness, but he was repaid in an amazing way.
A woman had been watching Matthew’s act of kindness, and she couldn’t help but admire this young man for his big heart. She decided to reward his generosity with a hundred dollar bill, and she took it a step further by writing a letter to the company to comment on what an amazing employee they had.
Matthew’s mother Michelle was overjoyed with what happened, and she commented, “I’m so proud to be Matthew’s mom, and I can give myself a pat on the back knowing that I’ve played at least a small part in raising this big-hearted young man.”
What an incredible story that shows how good deeds can be rewarded! Even if you don’t believe in karma, it never hurts to do something kind for another human being. Sometimes just the warm feeling you get from doing something kind is a reward in itself.
We encourage you to share this story in hopes that it will cause others to pay it forward and do a good deed for someone that could use it!
