This Good Deed Got This Waiter a Humongous Tip
When you are working as a waiter or waitress, tips are often how you make the bulk of your income. If it wasn’t for tips, these people would likely be severely underpaid. And this idea of tipping is almost a constant source of discussion or argument.
There are those who believe you shouldn’t tip (or tip small amounts) and those who believe you should tip waiters and waitresses well for their hard work. Whatever side you are on, you have to understand that these tips are often the only way these workers can get by.
While most see 15-20% as an appropriate tip for a quality service, one waiter in Texas named Kasey Simmons got the biggest shock of his life when he received a massive 135,000% tip from one of his tables. The bill (which was under a dollar), came complete with a giant tip of $500. So what did this man do to earn such a generous tip? Read on to find out.
The answer is that he paid for a woman’s groceries at the supermarket earlier that day. He had noticed that a woman was crying, and he wanted to help brighten her day. After talking to her and trying to cheer her up, he offered to pay for her $17 in groceries, which she accepted. He had succeeded in helping her smile, handed her his Applebee’s business card and went to work.
When he got to work, Simmons was having a pretty rough shift. He was about to leave for home when a woman sat down in his section and ordered nothing but a flavored water, which came to under a dollar. Once paying for her water, Simmons had noticed the giant tip she left him.
The reason why was illustrated in a note he left for her. As it turned out, the lady that Simmons bought groceries for was none other than this generous customers mother. As it turned out, this was the 3rd anniversary of her husband’s death and this good deed from Simmons made her day much easier.
Simmons was obviously very shocked and excited about the tip just as the customer’s mother must have been at the grocery store earlier that day.
