Elizabeth Banks misses son’s pre-school graduation
Elizabeth Banks felt like a "f***ing asshole" for missing her son’s pre-school graduation.
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ filmmaker – who has two children, Felix, five, and Magnus Mitchell, three, with husband Max Handelman attended the Glamour Women of the Year awards in London last night (06.07.16), but suggested she’d have skipped the glitzy event if she’d realised she wouldn’t be there for her oldest child on his big day.
Speaking at the awards, Elizabeth said: "I have two little boys at home. Felix, my oldest, is five and graduating from pre-school tomorrow. I didn’t realize I was going to be missing it when I accepted my invite. I’m a f***ing asshole. Being a working mom is super complicated."
The ‘Hunger Games’ star also thanked her own mother in her acceptance speech as she picked up the Filmmaker of the Year award, and gave a further apology to her son for missing his big day.
She added: "At the end of a long working day, it’s my little sons who want to play chase and give me kisses and cuddles. Sorry my little buddy Felix for missing your graduation. I want to thank my mom, too, because she worked and proved to me it can be done."
The 42-year-old actress recently spoke of how pleased she is that her sons are "great friends".
She said: "They are really great friends. I’m really close with my siblings, and my husband and I wanted to have our children close together for that reason. The fact that they’re so loving toward each other and such good little friends is what makes my life."
Elizabeth previously revealed she used a surrogate to have her children after struggling to get pregnant.
Speaking in 2012, she said: "It was a womb issue for me. Embryos wouldn’t implant. It’s a big leap, inviting this person into your life to do this amazing, important thing for you. But our surrogate is so extraordinary, and she’s still in our lives. She’s like an auntie."
