After many months of anticipation, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds used his social media accounts to reveal what costar Josh Brolin will look like as Cable in the upcoming sequel to the 2016 hit.

Reynolds tweeted out two photos of Brolin in his Cable guise. The first was a close-up of the character’s battle-scarred face, while the second — which was also shared by Brolin himself and co-creator Rob Liefield — was a three-quarter body shot, that displayed the character’s metal arm and penchant for gigantic guns.

The reveal comes a week after Reynolds revealed the first look at Zazie Beetz as mutant hitwoman Domino, also on his Twitter account.

Cable, introduced by Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, became one of Marvel Comics’ most popular characters of the early 1990s and played a part in defining the look of comics at the time. Cable’s time-traveling origins are directly tied in with the X-Men franchise, though it’s unclear if the film will alter his backstory. In later years, the character starred in numerous series, including one with Deadpool.
Deadpool 2, which stars Reynolds, Brolin, Beetz, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Leslie Uggams is scheduled to be released on June 1, 2018. David Leitch is directing the sequel, taking over from Tim Miller.
