Traveling is a great thing and there is nothing quite like seeing the world. And while the majority of traveling is fun times and exploration, there is one part of traveling long distance that really sucks, and that is flying. And while flying itself can be nervewracking, the most annoying part of air travel is the long waits in lines at the airport and going through security.
Not only does this take a while, it can also be extremely stressful wondering if you are going to make it in time to board your plane or not. But somehow, there are those people who manage to get through security at lightning fast speeds. So just how do they do it? Well as it turns out, there is a method to their madness and there are actually some tips that can help you make airport security a breeze, and here are 9 of them.
1. Always Go Left
Statistics have shown that most people elect to go right when given a choice of two lines, so by going left, there is a much better chance that there will be fewer people in that line.
2. Unless There Are Kids
While kids are great, families with kids (especially young ones) often take longer in security lines. So whichever line you see children in, you should make an effort to hit the other line
3. Empty Your Pants
The more items that you have in your pockets, the more things you will have to remove and care about in the security line. You really shouldn’t have much in there other than your passport, ID and maybe your wallet.
4. Wear a Jacket For Your Valuables
Instead of keeping them all in your pocket, keeping all your valuables in a jacket that you can take on and off easy will save you a ton of time in the lines, and will also make sure that you don’t lose anything that you wouldn’t want to lose.
5. Wear Shoes That Will Slide off Easily
You know you will be taking your shoes off at the airport, so save yourself some time and hassle by wearing shoes that you can remove easily. Also, wear socks under them as you really do not want to be barefoot in an airport.
6. Smile and Be as Friendly as Possible
TSA agents see thousands of people a day, and most are either stressed out or angry. By being happy and pleasant, it will also instill that sort of positive mood in their mind and the whole security ordeal will be a smoother and quicker process.
7. Don’t Try and Be Sneaky
You know the rules and what is allowed, and don’t go against it. You will get caught and the punishments can be stiff.
8. Get an App
There are actually many apps out there that can tell you TSA wait times in advance so you know the perfect time to go.
9. Sign up for Precheck
Precheck is a fairly new service, but this service can save you a ton of time in lines.
